Mealtimes

These resources are part of a three-page series.
If you would like to download the resources individual, please click the links below:

  • Supportive mealtime environments
  • Supporting fussy eaters for educators
  • A whole of service approach

Educators engaging in conversations with children at mealtimes help:

  • Foster language development and communication skills, as children are more likely to practice new vocabulary and sentence structures in a relaxed environment
  • Promote social skills, as children learn how to take turns in conversations, express their needs, and develop empathy for others
  • Provide an opportunity to model positive behaviours such as healthy eating, manners, and respectful interactions, reinforcing important life skills

Healthy eating learning experiences

Programming that promotes healthy eating aligns with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) by supporting children's well-being and development through holistic learning experiences.

By engaging in healthy eating activities, children develop a sense of confidence, identity, and connection with the world around them, fostering both physical and emotional growth.
