Physical activity for infant development

Planning physical activity for infants is essential for supporting their gross motor development. Regular movement helps babies build foundational skills, improve coordination, and develop strong muscles and bones.

Click the image on left for infant physical activities which align with key developmental milestones, including tummy time, rolling, sitting independently, crawling and early walking. The resource also introduces the foundations of fundamental movement skills to support ongoing physical development.

Be right back - Gone adventuring!!

A scavenger hunt is a fun way to help children connect with nature and enjoy the outdoors. Whether exploring your service’s outdoor space or going for a community nature walk, it encourages physical activity and supports key developmental skills.

As children tick off items on their list, they practice letter recognition, counting, fine motor skills, and build language as they talk about what they discover.

Click the image to download the scavenger hunt, then head outside and see how many insects and plants you can find!
