Secondary schools play an important role in adolescent health.
Commencing in late 2024 – early 2025 Good for Kids Schools (GFK@S) will be working alongside partners from every state and territory in Australia to support secondary schools across a number of health promotion programs:
Supporting schools to implement active PE lessons, break time activities, Resistance Training 4 Teens, activity promoting policies and parent/community engagement.
Supporting schools to adopt a physical activity-enabling school uniform policy to enhance students’ physical activity and wellbeing.
Supporting schools to identify the most effective strategies for implementing healthy canteen policies and programs.
Supporting schools to implement vaping prevention and cessation through curriculum resources, school environment and engagement with parents/community.
Supporting schools to restrict mobile phone use to enhance physical activity, improve mental health, reduce bullying and increase student attention.
How these programs can best be sustained long-term considering effectiveness and cost effectiveness is the focus.
